I can’t tell you now what we were arguing about. It was insignificant, yet there we were, on a pristine beach, on a pristine day, and lying on a pristine lounge chair, was my very annoyed wife.
Safety Tips: Don’t Be a Victim
One in four women will be a victim of a crime in her lifetime. It is an alarming statistic—but statistics can be changed. You don’t have to be a victim. All it takes is a shift in your daily routine to make a difference. We should take clues from Israeli women. Anyone who has visited Israel quickly realizes they are aware and prepared to effectively deal with a problem. They are vigilant but relaxed and confident. We need to be alert, aware of our surroundings, and walk in public with confidence—sounds obvious, right? Venture out one day and look at the people on the streets, notice what they are doing, and how aware they are of their surroundings.
Jewish Pioneer Women
Within five years of the start of the Gold Rush in 1848, more than 5,000 Jews migrated to California in search of opportunity, joining members of other religious and ethnic groups. After 1858, with most of the California mining sites appropriated, gold seekers migrated to new strikes in Colorado, Nevada, Montana, Idaho, and Oregon.

Bonei Olam, Celebration of Life
On Thursday August 15th, Edmond and Terri Harary graciously hosted the annual “Sephardic Division of Bonei Olam” benefit, at their home in Deal, NJ. Hundreds of community members came out to support this worldwide organization, that assists with funding for all aspects of infertility related treatments, for couples whose lives are at the moment childless. The evening was dedicated L’uliyNeshma Yosef Ben Latife, Joseph V. Harary.
The ICRF Annual Evening of Inspiration
The Deal community honored the memory of Marilyn Falack at the 2013 Israel Cancer Research Fund Evening of Inspiration in Oakhurst, New Jersey. Suzanne and Eric Sasson hosted this year’s event, chaired by Ariela Ben-Dayan, Charles Ben-Dayan, Samantha Harary, and Lisa Oved. Community Youth Give Back In SFF Shootout Event
Six months ago, Jacky Shwecky sat at a table and told us: “If you feed one hungry person, you earn your place in the next world.” He emphasized that the youth are the future of this community and that as the youth, we needed to start the path. Since then, those words have been ringing through our heads and they continue to shape the way we approach raising money for all organizations. This summer, we started with the Sephardic Food Fund.
Relationship Theory, Connecting with Your Teenager
Life is full of stories about teenagers having difficulty making it through adolescence. However, parenting teens—even teens who are at risk— doesn’t have to be such a daunting task when parents are willing to focus more on the relationship and less on getting immediate results.
