International Singer Pinhas Cohen

Singer Pinhas Cohen has been entertaining audiences across the world for over 45 years. Internationally known, he sings in four languages and in addition to his talent as a singer, Cohen is an accomplished songwriter, composer and performer.

Born in Casablaca, Morocco in 1960 to a family of musicians, Cohen started singing with his father at age seven. By the time he was 16, he was already the lead singer in a band he had started. At that age, Cohen needed his father to manage the business side of his music career. Through his talent as a singer and his skill as a musician, Cohen quickly rose to international prominence.

He has been invited to sing for many prominent heads of states, including the previous King of Morocco King Hasan II, and the country’s current monarch, King Mohammad VI. During a tour through Middle Eastern countries, Cohen was invited to sing before the King of Saudi Arabia. He has also performed in Egypt, Iraq, throughout Africa, France, Brazil, and Canada.

Most recently, Cohen performed at a handful of events in New York. He is often invited to sing at family affairs, weddings, engagement parties, before organization events, and other venues.

“I couldn’t believe his energy,” one excited community member said of Cohen’s singing at a recent wedding reception in Brooklyn. “He sang continuously for five hours. We got tired before he did.”

Cohen sings in four different languages—French, Syrian/Arabic, Hebrew and Moroccan. He sings Hebrew religious songs (piyutim) in the Sephardic style at religious events, like “Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai Hilula.” He is also known to sing famous Arabic and Middle Eastern songs at social events, and his performances are always lively.
