Born in Casablaca, Morocco in 1960 to a family of musicians, Cohen started singing with his father at age seven. By the time he was 16, he was already the lead singer in a band he had started. He has been invited to sing for many prominent heads of states, including the previous King of Morocco King Hasan II, and the country’s current monarch, King Mohammad VI. During a tour through Middle Eastern countries, Cohen was invited to sing before the King of Saudi Arabia. He has also performed in Egypt, Iraq, throughout Africa, France, Brazil, and Canada.
