Rabbi Shlomo Braun Endorses Daniel Donovan Jr. For Congress

On Sunday afternoon, April 26, Staten Island District Attorney and Republican congressional candidate, Dan Donovan campaigned at his Headquarters located at 9712 3rd Avenue, where he thanked a group of Brooklyn Young Republican volunteers for assisting with the GOTV legwork.  Donovan spent Sunday afternoon urging complacent supporters not to take the race for granted. As District Attorney, Daniel Donovan implemented innovative policies targeting crime on Staten Island, while leading the City of New York in felony conviction rates 10 out of his 11 years in office. District Attorney Donovan has aggressively prosecuted drunk drivers, drug dealers and criminals who prey on senior citizens and children. He has used digital billboards to display the mug shots of convicted shoplifters to help thwart theft at the Staten Island Mall. He has proposed legislation to toughen laws against domestic violence offenders and to make it easier to prosecute “deadbeat parents.” District Attorney Donovan has also supported legislation that would create a federal prescription drug database to help stop the abuse of painkillers. And, he started a cooperative endeavor with the media to capture some of the borough’s “Most Wanted Fugitives.”

District Attorney Donavan is a strong advocate to help get illegal guns out of the community.  He also co-sponsored several gun buyback events with the NYPD, netting more than 700 firearms. Before being elected District Attorney, Mr. Donovan served as the Chief of Staff to S.I. Borough President Guy V. Molinari for six years before being appointed Deputy Borough President under James Molinaro in 2002. During that time, Mr. Donovan served as chairman of the Staten Island September 11th Memorial Advisory Committee and as the Borough President’s liaison to the Department of Education, the uniform services of New York City and the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Management.  Prior to his appointment as Chief of Staff, Mr. Donovan served with distinction as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office. In his nearly eight years under legendary Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau, Mr. Donovan prosecuted major narcotics cases throughout the City and served as senior trial counsel.

Rabbi Shlomo Braun has a long and distinguished 44-year career in public and community service. He has extensive expertise in social work and entitlement counseling he previously trained and supervised a staff of twenty professionals. Braun has lectured extensively on such topics as; benefits entitlements for the needy as well as where and how to obtain information and referral services. He is involved in Politics since 1970, he served as district representative for the late Congressman Steven Solarz for the last ten years he was in the US House of Representatives, he later joined the staff of Congressman Nadler for four years and currently works as a community representative for NY  State Senator Martin J. Donovan schmoozed and posed for pictures with the volunteers before addressing on the importance of getting out to vote. “I will never get to meet the number of people I need to speak to during this election; I need surrogates like you,”  he said.
