MDY PTA’s Tennis and Mah-Jongg Tournament

Tennis “A” winners: Sarah Abadi and Betty SittThe summertime gives us all a chance to take a step back and enjoy the warm weather. The Magen David Yeshivah PTA Tennis and Mah-Jongg Tournament provided an uplifting and pleasurable afternoon that embodied the serenity of summer.

The tournament was held recently at the lovely home of Joyce and Raymond Betesh. Now in its second year, the annual tournament provided a pleasant afternoon of competition that proved to be an impressive success. Over 100 women gathered to compete in both tournaments, and to enjoy a delicious lunch.

Congratulations to the winners! The winners for the “A” tennis tournament were: Sarah Abadi and Betty Sitt. The 2nd place winners were Lesley Kassin and Sharon Haber. The winners of the “B” tennis tournament were Franny Beyda and Leah Setton, with Marilyn Hamui and Nancy Grazi coming in second place. Elyse Dweck won the mah-jongg tournament.

With all events, many hours of careful planning and organizing were essential for a successful tournament. Many thanks to PTA Presidents Lisa Elo and Linda Sasson, along with many members of the Magen David PTA. Yvette Cohen, Jeannie Zalta, Gloria Tobias and Melissa Soffer.

The event was organized beautifully. Thank you to Adelicacies for the luncheon. The Chinese Auction table was artistically displayed by Shannon Wahba, with many exciting prizes to bid on. We would also like to graciously thank all our sponsors. The proceeds from this event will benefit the Magen David Yeshivah Elementary School this coming year. The PTA is proud to be purchasing three Smart Boards.

With the upcoming school year approaching, it was an excellent opportunity for the Magen David family to socialize together. There will be many more PTA functions throughout the year to look forward to. The beginning of the school year is a great time to get involved!
