Magen David Yeshivah’s PTA has held three exciting events this year that were both uplifting and enjoyable.
First, the PTA hosted its annual book fair, held over three days. Jeannie Zalta and Karen Heffez chaired the event with ease, and were pleased to have an incredible group of volunteers to lend a hand. With full selections of books to choose from, it was a major success!
The second event was a story time for children ages two to eight. The importance of reading to children cannot be overemphasized. Parents who read stories to their children provide a strong, positive influence and build a foundation for a lifetime of significant benefits. Held in Magen David’s library, it was an adorable success! Many thanks to Lauren Mizrachi, Anne Savdie, Carly Mavorah, and Magen David’s librarian Linda Silfin for all their help.
Finally, an exciting Hanukah Toy sale was held at the lovely home of Arlette and Jeff Franco. Eighteen men participated in a toleh (backgammon) tournament, which was exciting and highly competitive. The event was efficiently organized by David Shamah. The 1st place winner was Elliot Sabbagh, and 2nd place went to Ralph Haber.
In addition to the tournament there was an exciting Chinese Auction and a Hanukah toy sale was held as a great convenience. Many hours of careful planning and organizing went into all the events.
Many thanks to PTA Presidents Beth Dayan and Stephanie Kurtz, Linda Sasson, Marlene Mann, Yvette Cohen, Celia Smouha, Paula Smouha, Mary Cohen, Rochelle Cohen, Sally Franco, Michelle Hazan, Claudine Bennaim and Lauren Mizrachi who organized this event beautifully, along with many members of the MDY PTA. Many thanks go to Shannon Wahba and Sharon Shiloach for artistically displaying the Chinese Auction and to Lisa Elo for organizing the backgammon tournament.
There will be many more PTA functions throughout the year to look forward to. The PTA is a great organization to get involved with!
