Celebrating Purim

Purim night, always a happy and joyous occasion, was especially festive this year at Congregation Magen David of West Deal. Community members from all over the Deal area joined together to participate in the synagogue’s annual Purim Dinner and Celebration.

The evening’s schedule began with Minha and Arbit in the newly redecorated main sanctuary, followed by the reading of the Megilla to a standing room only crowd by David Goldman. Following the reading everyone proceeded to the Grand Ballroom for a lavishly catered “Breaking of the Fast.” The sumptuous meal was truly a banquet “fit for a king.”

Adding to the excitement for many was their initial viewing of the magnificent renovations made by Ram Caterers (who provided the delicious food) to the atrium, social hall and sanctuary. Ram, the synagogue’s new exclusive caterer, has been booking affairs since the first of the year and is filling its calendar quickly. Renovations to the building, including the creation of a beautiful room especially for cocktail receptions and more intimate gatherings, mean that no matter how large the attendance list, guests are entertained in the grand style for which Ram Caterers has become known. That style was on display Purim evening.

Children enjoying the Purim entertainment

Simultaneously with the Purim dinner, entertainment was provided in the Atrium for the children. The entertainment was graciously sponsored by Steven Shalom and Ely Eddi. Josh’s Juggling Show, complete with juggling, stilt walking and unicycling, was a complete hit with the myriad children who came to enjoy the Purim festivities. (Not to mention the many adults who stayed to watch the show). Clowns were standing by on the sidelines doing face painting and balloon sculptures guaranteeing that all the children walked away with big smiles on their faces.

All in all, the evening was a tremendous success. We invite everyone to come by to see the synagogue renovations and to participate in the various programs that Magen David has to offer.
