As the winter months creep by with few opportunities for singles to meet and interact, along comes a singles event that followed the mantra “less is more.” Recently, at the Gil Hodges lanes in Brooklyn, 60 girls and 60 guys came together to compete as teams in bowling. It was no frills and all fun—and best of all, the money raised by the entrance fee was donated to Magen David Adom and The Friends of The IDF.

Organized by Bobby and Renee Husney, Claudette Aizer and Gladys Tobias and Melanie Kishk, the event was a great way to actually talk and meet new people which is so hard to do at social events with over 1,000 people attending. Hopefully this project will snowball into many more small events in the future. “What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon?” said one attendee. “The atmosphere was so chilled, and everyone was able to just be themselves, relax and have a great time! Bottom line: everyone feels that more events of this type should be done!”
