The month started off with the 7th grade Shabbaton. The first 7th grade class went on an adventurous trip to Far Rockaway. Their journey started off in a nail salon, where every girl got a professional manicure. Next, they stopped at a bowling alley, where the girls had a blast.

Friday night, the girls were split up into groups and were placed by different hosts for a Miss Horowitz and Miss P. Fischer’s students visiting the Ahi Ezer Senior Centerwonderful meal. Shabbat was beautiful. The girls enjoyed the singing and games that their phenomenal teachers prepared for them.

On Saturday night, the girls had a scavenger hunt in Target, followed by pizza and dancing. What a weekend.

The other 7th grade class had the privilege to go to Scranton. The first stop of the trip was in Chucky Cheese, where the girls enjoyed playing arcade games. Then the girls split into groups and had a wonderful Friday night meal with their hosts. Again, 7th grader Sheilla KShabbat day was packed with games, singing and fun. Saturday night was also a hit. Each girl shone in her own special light and the girls from all grades understood that one can look beautiful when 7th grade scavenger hunt on the way back from their Shabbaton in Far Rockawaydressed modestly.

5th Grade News
Ahi Ezer is very proud of their 5th graders, who went to the Ahi Ezer Senior Center. The entire grade got dressed up with face paint and put on a performance with singing and dancing for the seniors. It was a really special opportunity for the girls to uplift the spirits of the elderly of our community.

Additionally, the girls learned about the 10 makkot (plagues) this month. Their teacher brought in visual aids for each plague. Some of these props included live fish, live frogs, different costumes and various foods that represented each makka. This gave the girls a clear picture of what really happened in Egypt. They were able to enjoy and visualize each plague.

Saturday Night Fever
Ahi Ezer Yeshiva is proud to announce that their Saturday night program has begun. The program is coordinated by some of the finest Syrian teachers in the school. It is for 7th and 8th graders from 8 to 10 pm.

The past few weeks, the Saturday night schedule has been  packed with exceptional fun. A professional Zumba teacher danced with the girls, followed by pizza, popcorn and cotton candy.

The next week, there was face painting, exciting games and a screening of a hysterical comedy video.

The Ahi Ezer girls weren’t the only ones attending this program. Many girls from other schools—such as Barkai Yeshivah, Shaare Torah, Magen David, and Benot Rachel joined as well.

Ahi Ezer looks forward to many more weeks of smashing success.
