The Yeshivah of Flatbush Tennis and Canasta Tournaments

Flight 1 tennis winners: Sarah Abadie, Linda Sutton, Lesley Kassin and Marcelle SerureThe Third Annual Ladies Tennis and Canasta Tournament began perfectly. It was one of the most magnificent days this summer, and a dazzling venue only added to a spectacular event. Gracious hosts Samantha and Bobby Harary opened their home in support of the Yeshivah of Flatbush mission, welcoming a record turnout of community members to a day filled with exciting tennis prowess, fitness activities, relaxation and pure fun.

Tennis professionals Bill and Christina Martire and Konstantinos Floral DĂ©cor and Design Group generously sponsored the day together with Samantha, Bobby and their family.

The day began with over 60 of our very own tennis pros on the court, in breathtaking competition. The ever popular Michal Cheney gave her high energy Zumba class to an enthusiastic group of fitness fans. A delicious salad bar lunch ensued—complete with the ideal summer day beverages—iced coffee and lemonade. A Chinese Auction with an array of coveted prizes was beautifully displayed. The generous auction sponsors were Jody and Zvi Ben-Haim and family, and Arlyne and Marty Stein and family.

There was even more to come. The canasta tournament was held on violet flower adorned tables with matching purple chairs. The winners were Rachel Ringer and Marilyn Sitt. Special thanks go to Renee Safdiah and Naomi Houllou for organizing the tournament.

The winners of the Tennis Tournament Flight 1 were Lesley Kassin and Marcelle Serure and the runners-up were Sarah Abadie and Linda Sutton. The winners of Flight B were Sophia Betesh and Sarah Tamir and the runners up were Jeanine Schwecky and Esther Nahmed.

A very big thank you is due to the chairpeople of the event, Cynthia Stein and Honorary Ladies Auxiliary President Rosie Dayan, who coordinated this wide-ranging project. There was no doubt that the well attended day was enjoyed by all! Sharing a great day together has value in itself, but organizers and participants can be gratified in knowing the event’s success will have a broad impact in support of the many YOF Ladies Auxiliary Programs and Services throughout the school year.

The Ladies Auxiliary, this year led by President Ami Sasson and President-elect Melissa Tbeile, has been a mainstay of the operations and programming of the Yeshivah of Flatbush for almost 80 years. It is an organization made up of dedicated parents, working in concert with the administration and faculty of all the school’s divisions to enhance the school experience of all the members of the Yeshivah community. The officers and board of the Ladies Auxiliary urge parents to strengthen the bond between home and school. Get involved!
