Assemblyman Cymbrowitz’ Health Fair

Assemblyman Cymbrowitz with Dr. Inna Gelfand and her staffHundreds of people recently participated in the Eighth Annual Lena Cymbrowitz Community Health Fair, sponsored by Assemblyman Steven Cymbrowitz, Maimonides Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center’s Kings Highway Division and Kiwanis International.

Extending along Emmons Avenue from west of Sheepshead Bay Road to Ocean Avenue, the fair included 53 tables providing health screenings, information and free giveaways. Parked along the curb were a functioning ambulance for children to explore, NYU’s Smiling Faces Dental Van, which provided free dental screenings and Project Renewal’s Mammography Scan-Van.

Assemblyman Cymbrowitz explained, “Each year I’m told by the technicians providing the screenings that they found people with abnormal results and referred them to their own physicians. This is what the fair is all about—providing people with information they can use to stay healthy.”

“I am glad that so many people turned out. It was good to see our community come together to enjoy the fair and receive important information from both health screenings and printed materials that could be lifesaving,” Cymbrowitz added.

The event was kept festive by a DJ, performances from local schools, as well as TKT Taekwondo USA, a caricaturist, face painters, jugglers and clowns.
