With great anticipation and excitement, Magen David Yeshivah students were honored with a visit from the Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar from Israel. The visit generated tremendous enthusiasm from the over five hundred 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who were privileged to be in presence of the renowned Rishon L’Zion.
The assembly began with the children reciting the beracha reserved for a Talmid Haham which was followed by a powerful introduction by Rosh Yeshivah Rabbi Harold Sutton. Rabbi Sutton stated that, “it was truly an honor for the yeshivah to host such an illustrious scholar. It was great for the faculty, students, and staff to learn from the wisdom of one of the great sages of our generation. It was a momentous morning for all of us.”
“The essence of an MDY education is to instill within our children the love of, and the passion for, the land of Israel. It is not only an honor to welcome the Rishon L’zion to address us, but as importantly to fortify the bond between our children and the holiness of Eres Israel. The Chief Rabbi’s humility and greatness created a magical aura that will last with our children for years to come,” said Principal, Rabbi Baruch Hilsenrath.
