It’s no secret that women just love to shop. It’s often an experience based on pure fun, with the added touch of necessity. This year Hillel Yeshiva of Deal kicked off its annual boutique show, “Time to Shop” with plenty of time to stock up for Fall.
Hillel’s boutique show of 50 vendors allowed community shoppers to experience the rush of shopping and the sensation of instant gratification. Thanks to Vicky Shammah, with the help of Norma Antebi and Renna Calvo, this year’s show was rich with innovation.
Two thousand shoppers filled the parking lots to capacity to shop for both necessity and luxury. Items ranged from school clothes (with Central Park skirts galore), boys’ and men’s Italian suits, fine jewelry, sunglasses, linens, Judaica gifts and toys. This year some young entrepreneurs introduced items such as “kosher swimwear.” For the very modest among us, this full body bathing suit works as a swim dress, or can be worn to a nice restaurant.
The kids know that Webkins is all the rage. One clever vendor actually created name tags and dog collars especially made for Webkins pets. Another vendor brought a full line of fabulous furs at discount prices for those who wanted an extra luxurious holiday gift.
All in all, the Hillel boutique show had something for even the fussiest of shoppers.
The Hillel Yeshiva Student Council led by Morris Mishan provided delicious boxed lunches from Back to Nature for vendors and shoppers alike. Who could ask for anything more?
