It is every girl’s dream to look her best on her wedding day. From the moment you get engaged, there are few other things that you can think about. You remember all of the dreams you’ve had about that special day and all of the wonderful ideas that have been inside you for so long.

You search for the perfect dress, find a fabulous photographer, select music, flowers and take care of countless other details. All of the attention will be on you. As all of the details fall into place, it’s time to think about your makeup. Don’t let your makeup take a back seat.

In general, bridal makeup should look natural and timeless. There are always new trends, but your wedding day is not the time to try them. You don’t want to look back 10 years after your wedding at pictures that don’t show the real you.

Your photo album is forever. For the biggest day of your life, you will need makeup that will last. This is the time to consider a professional makeup artist.

If you want to do your makeup yourself, use the brand of mascara that you are used to, if you have sensitive eyes. This is not the time for red teary eyes. Waterproof mascara will carry you throughout the evening without smudging. It is important to incorporate long-wear products into your makeup, such as an eyeliner that is also waterproof. Most eye gels are waterproof and there is a sealant that can be used over the eyeliner to keep it on all night. It is safe for sensitive eyes.

Use long last lip liner to prevent feathering around the mouth area. Have your eyebrows groomed, if necessary.

If you choose to use a makeup artist, bring a picture of your wedding gown. Your makeup artist is there to guide you. She will help direct you, once you’ve let her know your preferences.

Have your makeup done for a party or an occasion before your wedding day. This will put you at ease. Write down what colors you will be using.

Bring pictures from magazines of looks that you admire and colors that you want to wear. Show the makeup artist shades of lipstick that you like, and tell the artist how much eyeliner you prefer. Pictures give a lot of information about what you do and do not want.

Just as you will want to have a timeless look with your makeup, the same holds true for your hair. The more natural you look, the more you will enjoy your album in the future.

Prepare the following items to bring to the wedding:

1. Chalk, to touch up your gown if you should spill anything on it.

2. Lipstick and/or lip liner for touch up.

3. Needle and thread for family wardrobe mishaps.

3. Q-tips to fix makeup.

4. Slippers or comfortable shoes to wear before your pictures.

Remember to have fun at your wedding. You are the star!
