Recently, a sensational singles event was held at Café Hadar, called, simply, The Event. Under the guidance of Rabbi Abraham Ben Hamu, this new, innovative singles event attracted about 80 singles, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves in a relaxing atmosphere.
Roughly a year and a half ago, Rabbi Ben Hamu started having simple get togethers for 15 to 20 singles at Shaare Shalom. As it evolved, the group grew larger. The main focus is on singles, 21 years and older, that are ready to commit, down to earth, lead a life of Torah and mitzvot and are willing to have a good time with their friends and hopefully meet their matches.
Edith Abitbol and Charles Safdieh spent many hours of hard work organizing this fantastic event and Café Hadar offered a delicious buffet dinner of salads, sandwiches and wraps. To get to know one another easily, a “getting to know you” icebreaker game was played using a questionnaire. The person who got the most answers to the questions won dinner for two to Café Hadar.
Many thanks to Rabbi Ben Hamu for chaperoning the event, Shaare Shalom for sponsoring the event, Café Hadar and to Hadas Lindner for generously volunteering her time.
Everyone who attended had a wonderful time, and is looking forward to more fun events. In the works are a bowling night, skating and even a Shabbaton.
