With the intimacy of a comedy club, the Encore School of Music presented a successful and thoroughly enjoyable evening of humor. With three community comedians to enjoy and formal introductions in between comics, the Encore School of Music’s evening of “Comic Relief” was a truly entertaining night.
Held on a recent Saturday evening, “Comic Relief” featured community comedians David “Hurdle” Tawil, Gail Cohen and Marshall Mizrahi. “Comic Relief” was the sixth of seven events held this spring, through the Encore School of Music. The dating scene played a large role in the monologues, amongst other topics.
David “Hurdle” Tawil, known throughout the community for his wonderful sense of humor, will be teaching the art of comedy writing and how to tell a joke and to deliver it, this fall at the Encore School of Music, .
The extremely talented Gail Cohen gave it her all in a one-person monologue, poking fun at the all intimidating aspects of the blind date. Gail is studying theatre at Brooklyn College. Marshall Mizrahi gave a hilarious performance, accenting his view of life.
The Encore School of Music has offered an array of exciting musical events as well this spring, featuring many of our community’s talented artists in a cozy, social setting.
Other evenings featured Maurice Zebede, Eddie Gindi with Men in My Head: Edward Cohen, Morris Levy and Richie Goldblatt, featuring Steve Adelson and Julienne Dweck. In addition there was Same Day Service: Elliot Cohen, Ross Goldstein, Sol Picciotto, Joey Krady, Steve Krady, Stanley Rishty, Allie Silvera and Alan Warshak. The final installment featured David Sutton and Deborah Murad-Nesser with Sonja Cabasso and Arthur Schweky. All the performances were outstanding.
Encore will be performing this summer in the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ on August 4th, 5th and 6th. For more information please call Sari Setton at (718) 954-3140, or visit the SCC’s website at www.scclive.org.
