MDY Introduces We Magen David
With much anticipation, Magen David Yeshivah launched a new and innovative program, We Magen David with an energizing assembly, much to the delight of the students, faculty members, and parents. In the days that followed, an enthusiastic energy level resonated throughout the building, and the excitement and sense of unity felt among the students was truly remarkable.
The mission of Legend Leasing has always been to constantly improve the leasing experience. It is clear that their team, led by Steven Sasson, Mark Dwek, and Morris Lincer, are very passionate about fulfilling this goal. Purim is the festival which commemorates the breathtaking Jewish victory over the murderous designs of Haman. It is a story of great courage and self-sacrifice, first and foremost by Queen Esther and Mordechai, and ultimately by the whole Jewish nation. Nancy Reagan created the slogan “just say no to drugs” as part of an advertising campaign to convince children across the United States not to engage in drug use. Dr. Abraham Twersky, poking fun at the lack of understanding the advertisement has for the difficulties people face with real life problems, has a similar slogan hanging on the wall of his drug clinic: “Nancy Reagan’s solution to the homeless, just get a home!”
Medstar, Sephardic Bikur Holim’s medical referral service has been dedicated to serving the health and medical needs of the Sephardic community for the last 18 year, Recently, Medstar expanded their services by opening a cancer community center; an independently funded project of Medstar.
Too many Americans live primarily among people their own age, especially senior citizens. Sadly, as a result, the elderly are expected to live in a vacuum while young people have no idea how to converse with, spend time with, or learn from them. This way of life is limiting for everyone involved.
Singer/songwriter Julienne Dweck has quietly been taking the New York/New Jersey indie music scene by storm for some time now. Her gigs have been touching audiences’ hearts and minds for the past four years. And yet she has never released any of her material to the wider public. Until now.
How do you do justice to someone as incredible as the Mitzvah Man and all his volunteers?
The Sanhedria Children’s Home in Jerusalem is a residential rehabilitation center for boys aged six years and up. These kids come from extremely disadvantaged homes where they suffered severe emotional and/or physical abuse and neglect. Their wounds are deep and real and hidden beneath the surface. Sanhedria nurtures their physical, emotional and spiritual needs and gives them a loving and stable home.
Many people think that routine dental treatment for children consists of putting “little fillings in little teeth.” In fact, treating decay (cavities) in children is an entirely different science from treating adults. Pediatric dentists have at least two years of graduate training after dental school to enable them to provide the correct care for children. Just as you wouldn’t think of bringing your child to any doctor other than a pediatrician, so should you bring your children to a pediatric dentist.

By day three of the blizzard of December, 2010, Barkai Yeshivah students and parents alike longed for their friends, teachers and yes, learning. Despite the urge for the school to open for those reasons alone, it was still unsafe. Many streets were unplowed. Cars were still stuck and buried, making driving near impossible. But, just because Barkai’s doors were closed didn’t mean that the learning stopped.
It’s always interesting to hear stories about the children we treat at Strivright. Recently, Charles, an adorable, blond haired boy, graduated from our program and his mother reminded me how she found us.
