“Math is cumulative and without complete understanding comes the potential for future difficulty. We make sure children master the requisite topics for success,” he said.
Kids don’t really “hate math,” he continued. “What they hate is being frustrated, embarrassed, and confused by math. When a child takes our assessment we gain insight into their cumulative math knowledge base. I know what they should know. The question is what do they know?”
Mathnasium develops a customized program based on the assessment results to fill the holes in the student’s math knowledge. “Every student has a unique knowledge base. We don’t want to bore them teaching topics they understand nor overwhelm teaching concepts beyond their ability.
