In Loving Memory of Nono Jack Cohen-Arazi

This past January, my husband, kids and I were privileged to spend time with my Nono Jack, in Israel. He was so happy to see us. All of my life, his hugs and kisses were something to look forward to and this was no exception.

My Nono was always up to date about everything that was going on in our lives, even though he lived so far away. He made it his duty to be involved in the lives of all his children and grandchildren, near or far. On his living room wall, hung pictures of my siblings, myself and other  family members. It was wonderful to see.

As thoughts run through my mind, wondering how I can describe my last few memories of him, the only two words that come to mind are tzadik gadol. Many people will agree. He was a person of true emet yirat shamaym. He had so much love to give. In my 25 years, I never heard him raise his voice or say anything bad about anyone. Nono Jack was a role model to me and to everyone in my family.

If I could go back in time, I would make a much bigger effort to visit him in Israel and spend more cherished moments with him. I would call him more often just to say hi and to hear his voice and wisdom.

Hashem blessed me with three beautiful boys, a husband, caring parents and great siblings. Yet, sometimes I can find silly things to complain about. My Nono never complained, even though he was living without my Nona Marry. He never told anyone that he was sad, lonely or missing something in his life. He was always optimistic about everything and what ever curve ball Hashem threw at him, he caught with a smile.

I could sit here for days and explain how special this man was and how big a loss it is to our family that he is gone, but I wont do that. I am sure, without a doubt, that Nono Jack and Nona Marry are in gan eden happy together, looking down and watching over our family.

Im sure they are proud of their son, my dad, Joe CohenArazi. My father has every great quality that my Nono possessed. My siblings and I are lucky to have such an amazing father. I thank my Nono and Nona for that.

I am truly grateful to have had Nono Jack. We love you so very much and miss you greatly. You will forever be in our hearts.
