The National Honor Society is the most prestigious organization for high school students across the United States. Membership is based upon four important qualities: leadership, character, scholarship and service.
The inductees to the NHS this year are: Michael Abady, Edward Benjamin, Ben Cain, Josh Calvo, Joyce Cohen, Naomi Cohen, Dena Edery, Paula Franco, Leetal Freiner, Rachel Gartenberg, Jared Gopin, Ovadia Harary, Saul Hedaya, Steven F. Jemal, Ariella Kashi, Marc Nardea, Mitchell Parker, Adele Rishty, Harris Sabbagh, Barbara Saka, Charles Saka, Sammy Saka, Irving Shabot, Maurice Shalam, Isaac Sasson, Al Sultan, Joseph Sultan, Morris Sutton, Nicole Vaknin, Rachel Vaknin and Ralph Zagha.
This year, Hillel Yeshiva was also pleased to present three special awards at the induction ceremony.
The Vita and Pauline Grazi Award for Outstanding Community Service was presented to Jeffrey Ash, a graduating senior. Jeffrey is a shining example of what it means to serve the community. There is no task too small or too big for Jeffrey.
The National Kesser Shem Tov Award was presented to Daniel Newman, a junior, whose outstanding character exemplifies the standards set for this national award.
Adele Rishty, a sophomore, was the recipient of The Hillel Yeshiva Keter Shem Tov Award, endowed by the Krost Family. This award is given to a young woman who exhibits excellent midot and a fine character.
Hillel Yeshiva is proud of our new inductees and award recipients. Saka, Brenda S. Saka, Emily Saka, Marjorie Sasson, Ann Shamah, Jacob Shamash, Paige Snyder, Albert Sutton, Albert Tawil, Elianna Wasser and Zachary Winzelberg. These fine students represent the goals of scholarship, service, leadership and character that we continually strive for as a school and community.
