Jewish people of all walks of life attended a Hanukah party hosted by Chabad of Kings highway. The event added the much needed holiday spirit to hundreds of Jewish people in great need of it. The crowd enjoyed illusionist David Blatt, sufganiyot, arts and crafts for the children, live music, and more. Free menorah kits and Hanukah how-to guides were distributed as well.
Director Rabbi Zalmen Drizin, a familiar face and close acquaintance to many in our community, inspired all by pointing out the spiritual significance of the number eight. Eight symbolizes a level of G-d’s light which is above that which the world is used to. This infinite light descends into the flames of the menorah, illuminating the Jewish heart, the home and the world abroad. As it is explained in Chabad teachings, even a little light expels much darkness and brings the world closer to its ultimate perfection with the coming of Moshiach speedily in our days.
The goal of the Chabad House, located at 2163 Coney Island Ave. between R-S, is to reach out to every unaffiliated Jew in the area, so that no Jew is left behind. The Chabad House already hosts a user-friendly welcoming synagogue, a filled-to-capacity Sunday Hebrew school for Jewish children in public schools, a teen club for Jewish teens from Madison High and the like, holiday events such as the Hanukah program and an interactive educational website at www. Many unaffiliated Jews have already been brought back to their roots as a result of Rabbi Zalmen Drizin’s Ahavat Yisrael, and the programs and services of the Chabad House.
