Back for its third year, the “David Mizrahi Golf Classic was a tremendous success. The event drew some of the community’s top players, such as Jack Hakim, Eli Gindi, David Braka and Morris Gindi, and was able to raise close to $70,000 on behalf of the David Mizrahi Scholarship fund. Players from our community had an opportunity to compete and enjoy the day at the Diplomat Country Club in Florida.
The idea of a golf tournament during intercession first came up three years ago and this year was the third annual tournament for charity. “This event has become a milestone for the intercession break, and we are already looking forward to next year’s event,” said A.J. Gindi, event director.
This year’s winners from the Men’s division included David Braka (77) for best low gross, Larry Newman (70) best low net and Sam Hamway (75) for best callaway. Zuckie Jemal received the award for men’s best dressed golfer.
In a separate division for the ladies, the winners were Ellen Jemal, Joanie Jemal, Susan Cohen and Frieda Sutton.
To finish off the event, a dinner/awards ceremony took place, with a special performance by David Blatt, who was flown in from New York for the event. The day was one to be remembered by all of those who participated.
Reservation are being taken now to hold positions for next year’s tournament. Please call Mitchell Gemal at (732) 829-0794 for more information.
