Congregation Shaare Shalom’s Purim Party

Congregation Shaare Shalom recently held its annual Purim party. Thanks to the hard work of many members of the congregation, it was a smashing success!

The shul was decorated with an adorable “wild, wild west” theme, with cowboy hats, bandanas and gold coins on all the tables. The main attraction was the Youth Chinese Auction, which had many different tables for the children to bet on. Ranging from $5 to $25, the auction boasted many different packages that everyone could afford. The Chinese Auction featured an iPod, bicycles, Xbox 360, a Plasma TV, a Hebrew book package, a digital camera, a laptop and much more. With so many packages to choose from, there were plenty of winners. Shaare Shalom also auctioned off a silver megillah, and sold a split-the-pot raffle.

A special feature this year was a live Hazanut concert that ran throughout the night for the adults to enjoy. The concert featured some of the community’s best hazanim, including Yair Hamra and Menachem Mustacchi. Delicious salads, bagels and deserts were served.

Rabbi Joe Dweck and Joey Torgueman

It was truly a fun evening, which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.

Congregation Shaare Shalom would like to thank the generous sponsors. The evening would not have been possible without the tireless effort of Salomon Cohen and the decorating committee: Karen Cohen, Alisa and Leah Khoudari, Hadas Lindner, Sondra Marcus and Carla Zeitoune, and the many, many participants.
