Congregation Shaare Shalom recently held their Annual Purim Party in celebration of the joyous holiday. Members of the congregation, young and old, came to celebrate. The family atmosphere generated by the congregants and the hard work of the committee led to the success of the evening.
“With each passing year, our shul gets better and better. A lot of hard work was put in to this occasion and it showed. The programs and events that Shaare Shalom plans are open to everyone in the community. We look forward to many more Purim carnivals and to many more happy occasions together,” said the president of the shul, Joey Torgueman.
The children enjoyed bingo, face painting and the Youth Chinese Auction, which boasted many different packages that everyone could afford. The Chinese Auction featured an iPod, an American Girl Package, an iPad, a MAC book, a Plasma TV, a Hebrew book package, a GoPro digital camera and much more. In addition, a silver megillah was auctioned off.
Under the leadership of Rabbi Avraham Benhamu, the youth minyan has thrived. The youth committee members added, “The annual Purim carnival is just one of the amazing events held in Shaare Shalom. We work hard to incorporate many throughout the year to benefit our congregation and the success of the Purim carnival helps fund events throughout the year.”
The volunteers spent many hours preparing mishloach manot to raise funds for the youth minyan, giving of themselves, while working to make the carnival fun for all.
As in the past few years, there was a live hazanut concert, featuring Yohai Cohen and his orchestra, for the adults. Delicious salads, bagels and desserts were catered by Joseph Hayat and were enjoyed by all.
Congregation Shaare Shalom would like to thank the generous sponsors. The evening would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of Salomon Cohen and the hardworking committee of Michelle Aijzenman, Karen Cohen, Ilana Greco, Lenore Greenberg, Lenora Hassoun, Alisa Khoudari, Hadas and Danny Lindner, Brian and Sandra Marcus, Save-a-Thon, Sharon and David Mann, Casey Rothschild, Bertha Sabbagh, Natalie Suede, Jeannie Zalta, and the many members of the Shaare Shalom youth minyan.
