Camp Emzie: Where the Kids Love To Be

Do you dream of a place where kids can be kids; where they can grow and learn without even knowing it in a stimulating, exciting atmosphere; a place that’s safe, clean and loads of fun with experienced staff and good friends; where each child’s natural goodness is brought out and their self-esteem and social skills are reinforced? Well, you don’t have to dream any longer. Wake up and discover Camp Emzie.

There’s a reason Camp Emzie’s slogan is “Where the Kids Love To Be.” Every kid that enters the camp’s doors is sure to have a blast. From older boys and girls, to the youngest campers, Camp Emzie’s program is specifically tailored to meet each campers’ needs.

It’s not just the kids who end up smiling. The camp’s action packed, fun-filled, organized, structured days leave their parents very happy too. They trust that their children are enjoying their summer while in a good Torah atmosphere that’s pleasant and safe. They know their children are in good hands.

Rabbi Mordechai Zafrani founded Camp Emzie on the Jersey Shore over 17 years ago. For the few of you who still don’t know him, Rabbi Zafrani has an extremely dynamic and exciting personality and is a natural when it comes to children. His enthusiasm permeates throughout the camp and draws the campers into the fun. He started the camp for boys ages five and up and soon added a girls division. He eventually added a preschool division too. It’s a known fact that his programs can’t be beat; and neither can his prices. You really get the best of everything at Camp Emzie.

Boys Division: Ask Emzie campers about their exciting summer days and they will be more than happy to relive their summer. Camp Emzie attendees start the day with praying and learning groups and then head off to our amazing activities. The camp has baseball and basketball leagues, woodworking and crafts, bowling and swimming. The weekly trips are also fun, and the campers go to the best places around. At least once a week campers go on a major trip, and there are plenty of smaller local trips too. The camp has two grand trips, including overnights, which leave the kids with memories to last a lifetime. It’s clear that the fun never ends.

Michael Fallas asked, “When are you going to open a camp for adults? I want to go to Camp Emzie.”

Girls Division: As the camp’s girls can tell you in their cheers—Emzie really does it right. Their summer revolves around a theme and they take it to an extreme level. They have weekly main activities and workshops that tie into the theme. Of course, they also enjoy swimming, baking, arts and crafts, dancing, sports, and more. Their weekly trips, grand trips, and overnight add to the all-around summer experience. They come home begging for more.

Tiny Tots Division: Under the expert leadership of Meryl Schmool and her team of experienced, loving staff, the youngest kids gear up for the summer of their dreams. Here are some of the things our little campers enjoy:

Arts & Crafts: The camp’s beautiful projects are age appropriate, allowing the children to develop their creativity on their own with little or no intervention.

Music & Movement: This program is a fun way to learn rhythm as we dance and play to the beat and have a wonderful time doing it.

Swimming: An everyday activity, guided by trained lifeguards.  Basic instruction is part of the fun.  Two- and three-year-olds have fun splashing around our on-site pools and running through our sprinklers.

Trips: One day a week is dedicated to trips which are local, safe, and fun.

Sports: Camp Emzie breaks down each sport into steps to help campers build their coordination and gross motor skills.

Baking: Camp Emzie uses delicious recipes that are easy to follow to give the campers a chance to bake mostly on their own.

The camp also has weekly themes and activities, Shabbat parties, a library, and much more. Their preschool program is creative and stimulating and has a very organized schedule. You and your children are guaranteed to love it.
