SCC Encore School of Music: The Place to Be for Music Education

Since the beginning of time, music has been an important form of expression, a language from the heart. Music can express joy, hope, anger or pain. It comes straight from the heart, without anything holding it back. It is a special language that can be heard and felt.

We, at the SCC Encore School, have witnessed firsthand, how the common passion of music has broken the ice in communicating and meeting new people. Individually, music promotes a sense of achievement. It teaches self discipline, concentration, creativity, self confidence, promotes imagination, coordination, tactical skills and the ability to analyze and calculate information. Medical studies prove studying music improves a persons ability in math and long and short term memory retention. It also teaches fortitude. Weve seen the quality of family life changed and enriched by the study of music.

At the SCC Encore School, we offer students of all ages and levels a chance to flourish and grow musically. All of our students enjoy supervised, uninterrupted lessons, in a quiet classroom setting.  Learning to read music is a must at our school, and many have become good site readers. Our staff consists of highly trained teachers and professional performers. They bring their knowledge and expertise from many major universities and conservatories across the country.

Through music we share and grow. One of our latest group endeavors is the guitar circle. It is a great addition to our already popular drum circle and choir. Here, students get a chance to learn and create together with a qualified teacher at the helm. Our vocal department has grown by leaps and bounds. We have some of the finest teachers, who train men and women, on exactly how to use their voices without straining their vocal chords.

One of our goal is to give students the chance to perform. At our annual recital, May 21st and 22nd, many share the spotlight to show  family and friends what they have learned. It also gives students the opportunity to collaborate with others and make connections for the future.

We welcome all those who want to learn and make music! For more information, contact Adina Nasar, SCC Encore School of Music supervisor at (718) 954-3140 or email Adina@SCCLIve.org. Sign up now, space is limited!
